“Honestly, Japanese is not an easy language. I tried to learn on my own but it was so frustrating that I almost gave up. Mami Sensei enthusiastically presents her class in a lively yet simple manner which really important to make it so much easier and enjoyable to learn. Learning has never been so much fun! Our first trip to Japan left us smitten. Since then, I have been drawn to anything Japanese. It’s culture, the people, it’s food, the beauty of it’s landscapes and old temples just to name a few. Because of this, I decided to learn Japanese. I was fortunate to have Mami Sensei as my teacher. Not only does she feed my craving for anything Japanese, she also makes learning the language fun and easy to understand. She is sensitive enough to know if her students are having dificulty grasping certain grammar points and goes out her way to make sure it is understood before moving on to the next topic. Her teaching style offers a good balance of visual and verbal examples. I particularly enjoy it when she incorporates some Japanese tradition and culture in her lessons. “It has been 9 months since we started the Japanese Language lesson with Mami-sensei . My siblings and I feel really lucky to have Mami-sensei as our teacher in our pursuit of Japanese Language . Mami-sensei is a very enthusiastic and vibrant teacher who encourage enjoyment for learning and a desire to achieve . Mami-sensei teaches in a way that students respond well to with lots of examples and experiences of her own . Mami-sensei is passionate about teaching and I loved how she helped us constantly improve our Japanese skills , the quality and methodology of teaching was excellent . One thing that really impressed me was the time management . She prioritise important topics and specific activities to increase the effectiveness . Being in her class was fun and it helps me learn more than what’s on the textbook as she never get tired of sharing her valuable experiences and knowledge . With her help and instruction , my Japanese has a tremendous progress , especially the structure of grammar . She taught us how to improve our vocabulary as well as be more fluent and confident when speaking Japanese . Furthermore, she’s always being supportive and provides us with positive advice when we’ve encounter dificulties or bottleneck . Most importantly , she always make up the classroom before starting the class to provide us with a cozy and comfortable study environment . I felt sorry that we always being naughty in the class , sometimes after a whole day work , feeling tired and exhausted and just couldn’t concentrate in the class , but thanks to sensei’s patience , taking the time to explain in depth , assured we follow the steps and fully understand the topic , she even stay back after the class to help us clarify the doubts . Mami-sensei really is an inspiring teacher and the lessons are always a pleasure . I enjoyed every lesson with her and hoping that I can continue to study with her .”

Learning Japanese with Mami has allowed me to fulfill my dream of living in Japan for a year. When I first started lessons with Mami I didn’t know a single word of Japanese. Thanks to her teaching I was able to get my Japanese language ability to a level where I felt confident enough to move to Japan. When I moved to Japan, many people would praise my Japanese language ability – particularly my grammar – this is a testament to the strong foundations I learnt while studying with Mami. While in Japan, I continued learning Japanese with many other teachers, but it was clear that none of them measured up to Mami. Since returning to Australia I have re-commenced studying with Mami Sensei – now focusing on having more fluent conversation. Lessons with Mami strike the perfect balance between being fun and educational. I particularly like how she teaches lessons in Japanese, using props and teaching aides when necessary, instead of reverting to explaining things in English. Even teachers in Japan struggled to do this. She also provides interesting additional resources, such as worksheets and articles, so that you can complement your lessons with independent study. I cannot recommend Mami enough, whatever your Japanese level!
